Instructions
Melt the butter in a pan over a medium heat. Using a whisk, gradually stir the flour into the melted butter until a creamy consistency is achieved.
Now pour the milk very slowly into the pan, stirring constantly.
Season the sauce with salt and simmer over a low heat for approx. 20 minutes, stirring well from time to time.
When the desired texture is achieved, remove the béchamel sauce from the heat and season with pepper and nutmeg.
